Board
Composition Initially started as single member Commission and subsequently converted to three Member Commission.
Appointment Appointed by State Government on recommendation through selection by selection committee as per provision of the Act.
Comprising of Chief Secretary of the state as convenor and Chairman, CEA/Chairperson /CERC as member and a serving or retired High Court judge as Chairman of the selection committee after inviting applications from eligible candidates through public notice.
Term duration Five years from the date of taking over or 65 years of attainment whichever is earlier.
Term characteristics Continuous, full time without renewable.
Term revocation Provided in the Electricity act 2003 by the State Government, if:
  • has been adjudged an insolvent;
  • has been convicted of an offence which, in the opinion of the government, involves moral turpitude;
  • has become physically or mentally incapable of acting as an member and of recommendation by the Chairperson of Appellate Tribunal for Electricity;
  • has acquired such financial or other interest as likely to affect prejudicially his function as a member;
  • has so abuse his position as to render his continuance in office prejudicial to the public interest or (f) has been guilty of proved misbehaviour.
