Institute of Infrstructure Services (IIS), Lusaka, Zambia

The IIS is concerned mainly with improved regulation, expansion and sustainability of services in water and energy supply. The IIS draws expertise from the fields of engineering, economics and others according to need. The core areas cover policy, regulation, institutional frameworks and capacity building. The IIS has working relationships with the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town and the Public Utilities Research Centre at the University of Florida in the USA on the delivery of regulatory courses. There is also a close association with the African Forum for Utility Regulators (AFUR) and the Southern African Development Community's Regional Electricity Regulators' Association (RERA).

 

Management Programme in Infrastructure Reform & Regulation (MIR)
University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business (GSB), Cape Town, South Africa

MIR is an academic research and training centre within the GSB which focuses on the analysis of the reform process and the regulation of network industries (electricity, gas, telecommunications, water and transport), with specific reference to the challenges and criticalities faced in Africa and in other emerging and developing economies. It offers sector-specific as well as general executive and professional short courses.
